UCD Alumni Awards – Celebrating Our Exceptional Alumni
On Friday 13 November, 400 of UCD’s most distinguished graduates, friends and staff gathered to recognise and celebrate 15 outstanding alumni awardees at this year’s UCD Alumni Awards in O’Reilly Hall.
Awards were presented to the following alumni:
Mr Tom Tynan – Agriculture and Food Science; Ms Yvonne Farrell and Ms Shelley McNamara – Architecture; Dr Jim Sheridan – Arts; Nóirín O’Sullivan – Business; Dr Dave Burke – Engineering; Ms Orlaith Blaney – Social Science; Ms Miriam O’Callaghan – Law; Professor Patrick Bradley – Medicine; Ms Virginia Pye – Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems; Ms Rena Buckley – Physiotherapy; Dr Tony Holohan – Public Health; Fr Peter McVerry – Science; Mr Dermot Weld – Veterinary Medicine
In keeping with tradition, the President of UCD, Professor Andrew Deeks awarded the Foundation Day Medal to a graduate who achieved international acclaim. The medal was presented to Dr Catherine Day and her citation was delivered by Dr Peter Sutherland. The awardees are all leaders in their chosen fields and are exceptional role models. Their lives and careers inspire us all.
