The National Ploughing Championships is an event that always brings UCD Agricultural Science alumni together. The largest outdoor event in Europe and an important occasion for the Irish farming community, the 2019 Championships was a great opportunity for alumni to reconnect.
The Agricultural Science Association Banquet 2019, held in September, was another chance for current and previous Association and staff members to come together. The event was held at the Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny.
Alumni of UCD School of Agricultural Science will be proud to learn that the School is one of the first Schools at UCD to receive the Athena Swan Bronze Award for commitment to Gender Equality, Inclusion and Diversity. In October 2019, then Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD presented the prestigious award to members of the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
The UCD Agriculture, Food Science and Human Nutrition Careers Day 2020 took place in February 2020. The keynote speaker was UCD Agricultural Science alumnus Richard Kennedy, CEO Devenish and EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2019, who gave an inspiring address to final-year students.
