lives in Hong Kong and is an English teacher. Memories of UCD: My favourite lecturer was Dr Kelly. I spent most of my spare time at UCD on the rugby field since I was on the ladies rugby team. The training was exhausting but we were all happy. Joining the UCD ladies rugby team also provided me with opportunities to visit different universities to take part in competitions – those occasions are a big part of my UCD memories.

lives in Bermuda and works in capital management at Fortitude Re. Love on campus: My time at UCD was the beginning of a “friendship” that had always had the potential to be something more. It took my friend and I until our final year to finally take the plunge that led to so many happy memories (and a few missed lectures!) before the journey into the working world pushed us back into the friend zone. Despite a global pandemic, we made our way back to each other again and, almost 13 years after leaving UCD, have turned that “friendship” into an engagement, the luckiest little family of three and a wonderful life together.

lives in Ireland and is a writer and artist. Róisín placed third in the Maria Edgeworth Poetry Competition, was shortlisted for the Fish Publishing Poetry Prize, awarded a Tyrone Guthrie residency and published two collections of poetry, Infinite Monochrome and Insomnia (both Orphic Press). Memories of UCD: I started the certificate course when I was 26, having had a very difficult time when I was younger attempting to obtain a degree, due to ill health. I loved learning about Irish history in an academic setting, having grown up abroad, but the politics module was where I really found my place. I finished my MA in Creative Writing this year and am hoping to apply for a PhD next year.

lives in Ireland and works at the Institute of Project Management as a Senior Project Manager. Professional highlight from the last year: Finally getting the chance to join an educational institution from which I can support other learners in their career goals. Memories of UCD: The best memories of life in UCD were wandering over to the main campus from the School of Architecture at Richview to attend elective Arts lectures. This aspect of UCD really helped me understand that learning is not a linear process but a lifelong endeavour.

lives in Singapore. Memories of UCD: Life takes many funny twists and turns. I thought I had a decent job at a university in Hong Kong until I met two visiting professors from UCD in 2007. Inspired by their success stories, I decided to quit my job to do a PhD at UCD. Upon my graduation, I got a job in Hong Kong. However, a better opportunity popped up in Singapore a year later. Fast forward and now I am in my eighth year with UCD Global Campus, Singapore. I’m grateful to my alma mater for everything. I’m also grateful for my students who teach me how to be better every day!

Memories of UCD: My dad travelled from France for my graduation. I could see how proud and emotional he was to see me graduating. I was the first person in my family to go to university. I loved my time at UCD and made many friends. A few months later, I learned I had won the Peter Mair Award. Thank you to the students and staff at UCD for all my wonderful memories!

Memories of UCD: Pavel Gladyshev had a significant influence as a teacher and mentor in my life; he pushed me to my limits and helped me understand how to be a lifelong learner. I am grateful to him. The James Joyce Library was like a second home to me. Computer forensics and cybercrime was not something I ever thought I would do. Every day, there was something about my programme that excited me.
