A number of clubs enjoyed success at Intervarsity competitions this season. Trailing most of the game, the Women’s Basketball team found their resolve and, with minutes to go, levelled the game, ultimately finishing with a ten-point victory to win the 2019 Intervarsity Women’s B Final over Letterkenny Institute of Technology. UCD Tennis Club enjoyed a very successful 2018/19 season with its standout achievement being the Ladies first team securing their fourth Intervarsity title in a row, following their defeat of DCU in the final.
The UCD Sailing team were crowned Intervarsity Champions, beating UCC in a challenging final. Lucy McCutcheon was awarded Commodore of the Year. In March 2019, the UCD Squash Club Men’s A and Ladies B teams won Intervarsity titles in Belfast. The UCD Varsity Swim Team won its sixth consecutive Irish University Championship in Belfast, retaining the Men’s, Women’s and overall titles. As well as individual awards for Emer Perkins and Niall McCarthy, Women’s and Men’s Orienteering teams won their respective team trophies.
