U20s Six Nations Championship
The Irish Rugby U20 side who won this year’s Grand Slam title had no less than 11 UCD RFC representatives involved throughout the campaign. Ireland won only their third ever Grand Slam in style with a comprehensive 59-5 win over Scotland at Musgrave Park on the final weekend of the campaign.
James Culhane was named U20 Six Nations Player of the Championship. The UCD number 8 was a standout performer, putting in a series of sensational displays from the base of the scrum.
UCD RFC players involved were Fionn Gibbons, Jack Boyle, Rory McGuire, Conor O’Tighearnaigh, Mark Morrissey, Michael Moloney, James Culhane, Diarmuid Mangan, Ben Brownlee, Dylan O’Grady, and Shane Mallon.
Guinness Six Nations Championship
Ireland secured the Triple Crown with a final day bonus point win over Scotland at the Aviva Stadium in March. Former UCD players – Hugo Keenan, Garry Ringrose, Andrew Porter, James Ryan and Josh van der Flier – were well represented throughout the campaign. Josh van der Flier was one of three nominees for the 2022 Guinness Six Nations Player of the Championship.
Women’s Rugby
UCD Women’s Rugby Club won their Colours match against arch-rivals Trinity College Dublin in College Park, with an emphatic 17-0 win.
