Rowers from the UCD Boat Club and the UCD Ladies Boat Club won 46 tankards and six national titles over the course of the 2022 Irish Rowing Championships. UCD made history with its rowers winning all four men’s eight adult races for the first time in the competition’s 110-year history.
The 2022 Colours Boat Races returned after a two-year break and took place on the River Liffey from O’Connell Bridge to St James’ Gate on 18 March. Both the Men’s and Ladies’ Boat Clubs enjoyed success at this year’s event. The Ladies Boat Club were winners in both the Corcoran Cup (Senior) and Sally Moorehead (Novice), while the Men’s Boat Club took home the Gannon Cup (Senior).
At the University Rowing Championships in Lough Rynn in April, UCD won the overall winners’ award (Centenary Cup), securing the Wiley Challenge Cup for men, following victories in the men’s club eight and novice eight and the senior eight. The UCD women took the Bank of Ireland trophy through their wins in the senior and intermediate eights, and intermediate fours.
