UCD Alumni Awards 2023 celebrated excellence and achievement within the UCD network

The tenth annual UCD Alumni Awards took place in UCD’s O’Reilly Hall in November 2023. The event proudly celebrates the success and exceptional achievements of UCD’s alumni and recognises their outstanding accomplishments and contribution to society.

The inspirational 2023 alumni award winners are creative and sporting legends, global business leaders, human rights advocates, transformational change-makers and healthcare superheroes. The nine worthy awardees – Olivia O’Leary, Kerry McLaverty, Malachy Browne, Rachel Kenna, Aedamar Comiskey, Dr Margaret Faul, Dr Alison Darcy, Dr Eileen Furlong and Josh van der Flier – were nominated by their peers, faculty and students of UCD. Their accomplishments showcase the multi-disciplinarity and breadth of the programmes at UCD.

President of UCD, Professor Orla Feely gave an opening address, before UCD alumnus Pat Kenny expertly hosted the celebration, which was attended by 400 alumni, supporters, faculty, staff and friends of UCD. Students from each award programme presented the trophies. The Awards celebration concluded with a spellbinding performance from the Choral Scholars of University College Dublin, led and arranged by Artistic Director, Dr Desmond Earley.

Nine redesigned trophies, marking the tenth anniversary of the UCD Alumni Awards, feature a 3D-printed design of the Belfield Water Tower produced by i-form, the SFI Research Centre for advanced manufacturing.
