Samantha Libreri has been appointed RTÉ’s Eastern Correspondent, covering Dublin, east Meath, north and east Kildare, and north Wicklow, and reporting on stories across a wide range of topics including politics, economics and culture. Libreri first joined RTÉ as a runner in November 2000, while studying English and Sociology at UCD. She was appointed a reporter in 2005, and has since presented some of RTÉ Radio’s flagship news programmes, including Morning Ireland and Drivetime.
Nuala McGovern has been appointed to present BBC Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour. In her 20-year career, she has presented across the BBC network, and has reported from over 30 countries on many of the most important events in recent history, including as part of BBC radio’s ceremonial team, commentating at both the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and the coronation of King Charles III and as the lead presenter for the World Service at Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington, D.C.
Eileen Magnier has retired from RTÉ after 39 years with the broadcaster. The reporter was the station’s first female correspondent and served as NorthWest correspondent for the past 34 years. Magnier started off in RTÉ in 1985 as a junior reporter after having begun her career with People Newspapers in Wexford. Among the many stories she reported on was the Creeslough tragedy in 2022; she described this as one of the darkest days of her career.
