JOHN FEEHAN

NEWLY ELECTED TO THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY Ten UCD graduates were among 27 new members elected to the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) in May 2021. Membership is considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

JOHN FEEHAN (BAgrSc 1960) was for over 20 years a senior lecturer in UCD’s School of Agriculture and Food Science.

PROFESSOR LORRAINE O’DRISCOLL (BSc 1988, MSc Pharmacology 1991) is Professor of Pharmacology and Biomedicine at Trinity College Dublin.

PROFESSOR NOEL GERARD MCELVANEY (MB BCh BAO 1982) is Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Medicine and Respiratory Research Division at Beaumont Hospital.

PROFESSOR JOHN BRANNIGAN (MA Modern English and American Literature 1992) is Professor and Head of the UCD School of English, Drama and Film. He has written five books on history, literature and critical theory.

PROFESSOR DEIRDRE CURTIN (BCL 1980) is a professor at the European University Institute of Florence, and Director of the Centre for Judicial Cooperation at the Robert Schuman Centre, in Florence, Italy.

DR RUTH BARTON (MA Film Studies 1994, PhD Film Studies 2000) is a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin. She has written books on Irish cinema, articles on Irish.

PROFESSOR BRIAN O’CONNOR (BA English and Philosophy 1988, MA Philosophy 1990, Diploma Psychotherapy 2014) was Chair, UCD School of Philosophy from 2007-2009, when he became Associate Professor, UCD School of Philosophy.
