It was a big day for UCD Rugby on 8 May with the announcement of the 2025 British and Irish Lions Squad. Five UCD RFC members were named on the team: Hugo Keenan, Andrew Porter, Garry Ringrose, James Ryan and Josh van der Flier. They will also be joined by club member Vinny Hammond, analyst for the Lions, as they embark on the 2025 Tour. Closer to home, UCD U20s won the McCorry Cup after defeating Dublin University 39-17 in Energia Park, while the UCD First XV retained their Division 1A status in the All-Ireland League.
UCD RFC’s annual Daffodil Day was a huge success this year, raising a total of €71,434.64 for the Irish Cancer Society, far surpassing their original goal of €30,000. These funds contribute to over €190,000 that the club has raised for the charity over the last number of years, and will be used to provide vital support services for cancer patients and their families. The club showed their gratitude to those who took part on their Instagram, saying: “A huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported us along the way – your kindness and generosity will make a real difference.”
