Leinster and Irish Rugby players supporting UCD Rugby’s Daffodil Day 2020
True Grit

The UCD Rugby team had a 22-19 win over Clontarf in the Leinster Senior Cup. The Cup final doubled up as the 14th round of the Energia AIL and saw UCD finish in third place in the league.

The UCD J1’s had a win against Lansdowne. Having topped the league table by one point (55-54) the previous week, it was also just a single point that separated the teams on the final day.

The Collidge defence stood firm and held out for a victory, taking the Metro League J1 Cup for the first time in 32 years (1987-88). The J2 team lifted the Metro Division 4 Cup with a 23-10 victory over Naas RFC.

UCD Rugby is synonymous with its annual Daffodil Day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society (ICS). The launch was attended by representatives from Irish Rugby and Leinster  Rugby,  including Josh Van Der Flier, Garry Ringrose, Luke McGrath and Ross Byrne. Mark Mellet of the ICS also attended the event, along with Club Sponsor Crowe Ireland, Applegreen, UCD Rugby Club President David Carrigy, Men’s Captain Jonny Guy and Women’s Captain Christine Coffey. The event raised over €10,000.
