In 1969, The Students for Democratic Action (SDA) was a student movement in UCD which occupied the administration block at Earlsfort Terrace to protest the move to the new Belfield campus.
Deaglán de Bréadún moderated an event in February 2019 in the FitzGerald Chamber at UCD with an audience of over 120 alumni and friends to mark the 50th anniversary of the student-led occupation at UCD.
Alumni panellists Frank McDonald, Nicole Pepinster-Greene, Basil Miller, and current student Amy Crean provided an interesting and lively conversation on student activism on campus from 50 years ago to the present day, with participation from the audience ensuring a wonderful evening of debate and shared memories.
