AMERICAN FOOTBALL
UCD American Football won the intervarsities in November, beating UL Vikings on a scoreline of 26-0, and captured their second Shamrock Bowl in three years to claim the top prize in American football on the island of Ireland.
BOXING
Conan Murray won the Intermediate title at 56kg at the Irish Athletic Third-Level Boxing Association Championships.
CYCLING
At the 2024 National Varsity Championships, there was team success in the Elite Men’s Team and Elite Women’s Team categories.
FENCING
At the Irish Fencing Intervarsities, UCD won gold in the Women’s Épée and Women’s Sabre events.
GOLF
Emma Fleming won the Women’s title at the Irish Golf Intervarsity Championship.
KARATE
UCD Karate has had a hugely successful year winning the two main college-level competitions, the All-Ireland Karate Intervarsities and Intercollegiate Cup. As a result, UCD Karate is the most accomplished and highest-ranked university karate club in the country.
MOUNTAINEERING
At the Irish University Climbing Competition, Dylan Dodd won gold in the Women’s Advanced for the second year in a row.
ORIENTEERING
At this year’s Orienteering University Championships the Women’s shield was won by UCD for the second year in a row. Individual success was also achieved: Jordan Kim won the Women’s B event and Eoghan Whelan won the Men’s A event.
SAILING
UCD Sailing was crowned Irish University Sailing Association IUSA Intervarsity Champions at this year’s event in March.
SWIMMING
At the Irish Intervarsity Swimming Championships, Jena MacDougald won gold in the 200m Backstroke and 200m Breaststroke events, Alessandro Ozella won gold in the 100m Breaststroke and Naomi Trait won gold in the 200m Freestyle.
TAEKWON-DO
UCD hosted the Irish Taekwon-Do Intervarsities and won gold medals in patterns, sparring, and breaking events.
TENNIS
At the Tennis University Championships, the Men’s First Team won gold for the second year in a row, beating TCD in the final 6-0.
TRAMPOLINE
At the Trampoline University Championships, UCD won the Intervarsities Cup and won a number of gold medals. The gold medal winners were Padraig Casey, Kirsty Cowan and Niamh Hutchinson.
ULTIMATE FRISBEE
UCD Ultimate Frisbee had a very successful year, winning all three outdoor intervarsity tournaments, which included winning the Women’s outdoor event for the first time.
