Nicola Tuthill wins first Irish gold at European Hammer Cup.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

At the National Senior Indoor Championships<\/strong> in February, UCD Athletics took home three national titles: Toluwabori Akinola claimed his first Senior title in the Men\u2019s 60m with a time of 6.61, while Sarah Healy set a new Championship record in the Women\u2019s 1,500m with a time of 4:08.74. In the Women\u2019s 4x400m Relay, Renee Crotty, Hollie Kilroe, Ellie Harnett and Mollie Hourihan also set new National and Championship records. Lughaidh Mallon took home a silver medal in the Men\u2019s 1,500m, with a finishing time of 4:00.61, while David Bosche took silver in the Men\u2019s 400m with a time of 47.54. At the U23s Indoor Championships in March, Renee Crotty took home gold for UCD in the Women\u2019s 800m with a time of 2:14.58, while Aisling Kelly ran sprint doubles, placing first in the Women\u2019s 60m and 200m finals with times of 7.57 and 24.62.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn<\/strong>, three UCD athletes were chosen to represent Ireland. Sarah Healy claimed the European Championship title in the Women\u2019s 3,000m with a finishing time of 8:52.86. Bori Akinola and Cian McPhillips both made it to the semi-finals in the Men\u2019s 60m and 800m races, respectively. UCD alumnus Mark English took home a bronze medal in the Men\u2019s 800m, with a finishing time of 1:45.46. At the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia, Nicola Tuthill made history as Ireland\u2019s first gold medallist, winning the U23 Women\u2019s Hammer with a throw of 69.74m. She also secured silver medals at both the European U23 Athletics Championships and the World University Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Outdoor Intervarsities<\/strong>, UCD took home nine titles and retained the Sprints Trophy for the second consecutive year. Title winners for UCD were Aisling Kelly (Women\u2019s 100m and 200m), Emma McEvoy (Women\u2019s 5,000m), Darragh Murphy (Men\u2019s 200m), and Cara Murphy (Women\u2019s 400m Hurdles). New IUAA records were also set by Jonas Stafford (Men\u2019s 3,000m Steeplechase), and Nicola Tuthill (Hammer Throw). In the Relays, UCD took home gold in the 4×100 Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Relays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
