Irish law firm Matheson, together with UCD Sutherland School of Law, hosted the first industry event with Government officials, industry leaders, UCD alumni, faculty and staff and Matheson staff, at the newly opened Confucius Institute for Ireland, on \u201cCultivating New Opportunities: The Agri-Food and Beverage Perspective on Brexit and China\u201d.<\/p>\n
Speakers discussed the necessity for accelerated export market diversification post-Brexit \u2013 in a sector which has deeper links to the economic activity across all regions of Ireland than any other industry.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the lecture, Michael Creed TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine noted: \u201cBrexit is a reality that will touch every industry across Ireland, but it is of particular significance for the agri-food sector, given the importance of the UK market … I look forward to seeing the results of this conference, which I believe will help to inform future policy conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Along with an annual lecture, as part of the Seminar Series, Matheson have committed to a twelve-year agreement to sponsor the internationally renowned UCD School of Law doctoral programme for three four-year PhD scholarships.<\/p>\n
