Once you’ve graduated, you don’t have to say goodbye to your college for good – with University College Dublin Alumni Relations, you can still benefit from many of the institution’s facilities and maintain a connection with the college, its staff and your class mates while you venture into further study or the working world. If you are a current UCD student, you can also enjoy the benefits and sign up to be an alumnus whilst you’re studying.
To classify as a college alumni and apply for membership, you need to be a UCD graduate or have studied at University College Dublin for at least one year at either undergrad or postgrad level. Current and former members of staff are also eligible to apply.
The benefits for UCD college alumni are endless. Once you have become a member, you are given a UCD Reader’s Card which grants you access to its many libraries during their opening in the college term. This is usually October through to September the next year, and with millions of books available to read, this means you will be able to carry on learning and carrying out important research even after your degree is over.
You will also receive a copy of the college’s unique alumni magazine, UCD Connections. The magazine is published annually and is a great way to keep in touch with the college, find out news and stay informed. As well as this, you can avail of discounted rates on adult education courses and discounted access to UCD’s indoor and outdoor courts – tennis, squash, handball amongst other activities.
The online UCD alumni community serves as a perfect platform for UCD graduates to contact friends that they may have lost touch with, or even meet new people. Alumni members often receive invites to special events at the college and are free to visit for reunions or even just for a spot of nostalgia.
Don’t forget to keep in touch and update your details so you can keep updated with current happenings and get invited to events on and off campus.
